GENERAL INFORMATION

POSITION TITLE: Baptist Collegiate Ministry Director at College of the Ozarks (CofO).

JOB CATEGORY: Part-time (up to 20 hours per week), Exempt employee. 

LOCATION: College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO

EMPLOYED BY: Tri-County Southern Baptist Association (TBCA). 

SUPERVISOR: Director of Missions. HIRED BY: Administrative Team as advised by BCM Board

PARTNERSHIP RELATIONSHIP: Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) Baptist Collegiate Ministries

REPORTS TO: Director of Missions, TCBA; Collegiate Ministries Director, MBC

TCBA DESCRIPTION: Tri-County Baptist Association is a family of 55 Southern Baptist churches in Christian, Stone, and Taney Counties. Our mission statement is: “Tri-County Baptist Association exists to encourage, assist and equip churches to fulfill the Great Commission.”

BASIC FUNCTION: The Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) Director is responsible for the direction of the total BCM ministry at College of the Ozarks.

MINISTRY MISSION AND CORE VALUES

BCM MISSION: To visibly extend the Kingdom of God by directing a Southern Baptist-connected ministry among the student body at College of the Ozarks.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: To develop and lead Collegiate Ministries for Tri-County Baptist Association within the community of College of the Ozark. Responsible for providing vision and leadership to serve local campus ministry programs in cooperation with area TCBA churches and the ministry leadership of College of the Ozarks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Develop and lead appropriate local collegiate ministries that reach college students for Christ and his Church in the areas of evangelism, discipleship, missions, and ministry. 
  2. Communicate effectively in multiple settings, both with groups and one-on-one with students and other ministry stakeholders. 
  3. Work with TCBA in assessing the changing ministry needs of the students at College of the Ozarks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Build and maintain positive relationships with students, college faculty/staff, local TCBA churches and pastors, and current and potential ministry partners.
  2. Develop and implement a worship strategy that includes worship opportunities for students and trains them in leading worship.
  3. Recruit and develop Christian students to serve in BCM student leadership.
  4. Develop and implement a small-group discipling strategy for students.
  5. Develop and implement a sharing strategy that gives every student on campus an opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel.
  6. Develop and implement a semester or summer missions project.
  7. Work with TCBA and MBC leadership to develop short-term and long-term BCM ministry goals.
  8. Work with TCBA leadership (BCM Board and Director of Missions) to develop and administer the BCM budget. 
  9. Communicate the work of BCM to ministry stakeholders (BCM Board, TCBA leadership, TCBA pastors and churches, MBC, CofO leadership).
  10. Connect with TCBA pastors and churches to allow them to directly participate in ministry to students. 
  11. Respond to requests for information from TCBA leadership, BCM Board, and MBC in a timely manner.
  12. Participate in TCBA meetings and MBC trainings as required. 
  13. Participate in the BCM network offered through the Missouri Baptist Convention.
  14. Maintain compliance with the TCBA’s employee policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  1. Has excellent listening, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  2. Possesses demonstrated leadership skills necessary to appropriately influence people to achieve a desired outcome. 
  3. Able to develop strong, consistent leadership among students and assist them in discovering and exercising their spiritual gifts through serving in BCM leadership roles.
  4. Able to effectively share the gospel of Christ in the context of students.  
  5. Able to teach the Bible effectively at the collegiate level to small and large groups. 
  6. Able to think and plan strategically, as well as administer the resources allotted for ministry.
  7. Able to communicate the vision and work of BCM both verbally and in writing. 
  8. Proficient with online tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media tools to accomplish the task of reporting and promoting the work of the BCM. 
  9. Possesses project management skills to work in a timely manner with BCM student leaders, and TCBA leadership and churches.

  8. Is an active church member in a TCBA church.

 

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. At a minimum, holds a Bachelor’s degree. A Master of Divinity from an accredited theological school or a seminary (Baptist seminary preferred) is recommended but not required. 
  2. Holds a license or ordination for the Gospel Ministry or is a candidate for said credentialing. 
  3. Ideally, has a minimum of 2 years of ministry experience with Youth and/or College Students.
